The families below have registered to be placed on the Angel Tree for 2010.  The idea is to help them with items they need and also for Christmas this year.  Most are struggling desperately and want to help their children get to a more "normal" stage in their lives.

If you would like to adopt a family - this is how it works - scroll down through the lists below - choose a family to adopt and then choose 2 alternate families (in case while you are choosing - someone else might also choose your first choice).  Fill out our Adopter Form - and we will call you to discuss the details.

We will provide all information about these families -
such as clothing sizes, special needs etc.

Thank you for your wanting to help these families and for all the help you have previously.

Details of my Experience:  My home was severly damaged. The roof came off. The tree that shaded the back of my house was split into. Now the electric bill is high. We still have mold. I had a fema trailor for about 2 years and it had formaldehyde in it. Since 2005, I have had numerous upper respiratory and sinus infections and pneumonia. I was prescribed an inhaler. I can't afford to see a dr. but still have breathing problems. It is a shame that I work but still can't afford basic needs. I don't want a hand out I just need a help up out of this mess.  I don't have internet. I am writing you at work.  I don't want my child to be sad on Christmas morning.

Items Needed:  food, clothes, and home repair items

Details of my Experience:  Me and my kids at the time packed up three days worth of clothes and evacuated to northern Mississippi and lived there for a year. Our home and belongings were lost. We moved back to Slidell, LA after a year and lived in a FEMA trailer while I looked for work so we could get our own place again and start over being able to feel some sort of normalcy. We lived there for over a year and I could not find work only odd jobs to help out. I then moved back to Northern MS because the jobs were more plentiful. I have been here for 2 yrs and 8 months and was doing good with a job and just recently got laid off and have been now living with a friend looking still for work but unable to find it. My plans are to go back to collage at night while I'm working in the day to support my family to give them a better life. We are in need of clothes and bedding, towels and shoes and dressers for the kids. Anything would be helpful. God bless you all from this site. I hope one day to be able to be one adopting and not in need.

Thank you to all who help those in need. God bless you all

Items Needed:  Clothing, linens, cookware for when we get our own place. Towels face rags. Shoes. Dressers for kids. Toddler bed.

Details of my Experience:  When Katrina hit, we lost everything.  I didn't have renter's insurance, I lost my job, and FEMA gave me nothing due to a clerical error.  Since then, I have been put on disability for depression and had to move in with other people.  Recovery and rebuilding has been one problem after another.  I am a single mother of a wonderful 16 year old boy and am currently unable to give him everything he needs.  God bless!

Items Needed:  We are in need of clothes, food, and general household items.

Details of my Experience:  We did not evacuate for the storm due to our job situations and ended up on a roof a few houses away.  Joe cannot swim, so I battled not only the water but his fears as we made our way in the rising water.  We stayed huddled on a rooftop for nearly seven hours awaiting rescue, were rescued by private citizens and given temporary shelter by private citizens.  We have relocated to Northern Louisiana where Joe remains unable to find work.  Thinking that life would return to normal, we purchased a house and made this our home -- My income barely supports us both but is too high for us to obtain federal assistance.  We had a baby in the summer of 2007, and this year in June he broke his leg.  As I'm sure you can imagine, the financial recovery from the hurricane has been the hardest and every little problem sets us so far back.  We try not let our child know how hard everyday things are. We have gone many years without requesting any assistance but Seamus' accident this year has really put us in a bind.

Items Needed:  Bed linens (queen size beds, pillow cases mostly) cookware-- skillets and sauce pans.  Food.  Yard tools-- spade edger.

Details of my Experience:  I am from New Orleans, La and I was down thee the day of the storm. My kids and I was stuck on top of a roof from August 29, 2005 - September 5, 2005. And then taken to the airport for three more days of "torment". I was then scammed out of money from people who said that they were sent to help us; then after the fact of excepting supposed to be help asked to pay a fee. I lived in a shelter in Baton Rouge which was Bethany Church for about 3 months; then a Fema trailer for about 6 months and had too move because my daughter kept keeping nose bleeds, due to the condition of the trailer. I have never been n food stamps or welfare, and I am now in school working on my bachelor degree, and I still need just a little help to finish my journey to stand back on my own completely. If someone can help us, then thanks a lot and if not thank for caring enough o read our story and God bless you.

Items Needed:  clothing, shoes, household items, and if someone could donate a car for me and my children, because the bus system is terrible, and work, go to school, and have to take my kids around town.

Details of my Experience:  My family and I lost everything in Hurricane Katrina  including our sprits and self worth.   I will share my story with any who wish to hear it but I will not do that now as there was so much after Katrina that happened to my family and I.  We struggled so much and as result it put a great deal of stress on us all.  Katrina, as everyone know was on August 29, 2005.  Corinth, MS is where Katrina 'blew' us.  March of 06 my husband and I went to the local Wal-mart when our children called us crying.....they were home alone and a tornado struck where we lived.  Not knowing what to do we went to Dallas, TX where my mother was - April of 06 we were in the deadly flood in Uptown Dallas.  The stress was unbearable - causing my children to fail that year and my husband and I divorced in May of 07.  He returned to the coast and I returned to Corinth with the children.  September of 09 he arrived at my doorstep saying of how he missed the children and I.  He stayed  :)   When things were looking up - finally!!  A flood washed over Corinth and destroyed our home.  It just seems that every time we seem to be doing 'ok' something brings us down.  Not knowing what to do we have now returned to Gulfport and struggling like never before.  I would like to end on a happy note though.....as of May 14th, 2010 my husband and I are remarried.  Still stressed more than ever but we we KNOW we need each other.

Items Needed:  At the moment we need furniture, clothes, kitchen items, school supplies and lots of prayers.

more coming soon as families apply.
