My Disaster Experience ... why I am looking for work: My family and I evacuated to San Antonio, TX on August 27 to escape Hurricane Katrina. A week later were able to make our way back to Louisiana, but still could not return to our home. We had to stay with my sister and her family, and my dad. There were 10 of us in a 3 bedroom house. When we were allowed to return to our home it was not liveable. A month later it is still really not liveable, but we returned home to broken windows, cement floors, and mildew walls and furniture. We had to rip up most of the carpet in our home, threw away two kitchen tables, computer desk and two computers, my daughter mattress, and a good bit of clothing. My husband who usually makes a good living for us is now out work for the last month. Now his needs my help. Additional Comments:

My mother's boyfriend didn't want to leave, figuring that he would ride out the storm as many others thought, and it just ended up for the worse. We slept on the ground for days awaiting a bus that would never come. We had to go Friday to the Super Dome and stand in the heat for hours to wait for the buses to come, or either for the soldiers to let us on the buses. People were passing out from the heat and some elderly people and children died. I have never seen anything like that, besides on TV until now, and I hope that I, nor anyone else has to go through it again.
